    Amy Poehler might be a little short to be an Asgardian, but she’s definitely got the moves down. 

    Patton Oswalt pitched a Wash backstory so compelling to Joss Whedon that he let him write it as a Firefly comic book, and now he’s given a completely plausible pitch to connect the Star Wars and Marvel universes. (Plus he was brilliant as Constable Bob onJustifiedand looks like he will be super awesome on Parks and Recreation this week.)

    I hope he just continues to use his powers for good and not evil.

    Adventures at Target #1

    Target has a packaged collection of Avengers action figures: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye, Hulk, Loki, Nick Fury and Black Widow. BLACK WIDOW! I was so excited to see a BW action figure that I immediately picked up the box. 

    Does it seem to anyone else that Black Widow and The Hulk are the only two ready to hit the ground running? All the rest of the guys up top look like they’re having some kind of kicky, jaunty fun. Which is fine, but kicky, jaunty fun is not the most productive way to take down Loki and other villains hellbent on destroying the Earth. 

    ANYWAY, not only is Black Widow pretty badass here, but I love how the box promotes the fact that she has DOUBLE PISTOLS.

    Are there any other kids toys out there, easily findable at a mass-market retailer, where the female action figures have guns? Maybe Princess Leia. Both badass ladies.

I saw them last year and talked to them and they are ALL SORTS OF AWESOME. They pick a theme for EACH DAY of D*C and I fell in love on last year’s Doctor Who day. The little ones were dressed as DW villains — I’m pretty sure the middle one was a cyberman.  This year, I was on the look out for them and was OVERJOYED when they came to J. August Richard’s table about 20 minutes before I had to go. I got to geek out over them and tell the mom how excited I was to see them. They were the Avengers — dad was Agent Coulson, mom was Captain America, the oldest boy was THE most badass Nick Fury, the middle one was Hawkeye (and got mad at me for using the flash on my camera ;)) and the little girl was Black Widow.  I’ll post a photo when I download them.  i found a picture that they posted! behold their awesomeness!

Whedon is signed to both write and direct the upcoming sequel. Disney confirmed that Whedon is also involved in the development of the long-lead ABC live-action television series which will be set inside the Marvel cinematic universe.
